“Finally. The Neenah Flash. I was able to get them in one place. Ross Van Burkleo from Neenah Paper. Ross, always awesome to see you. And, you have a new role at Neenah, which is pretty exciting, I mean, I’ve said that you don’t come to PrintJob anymore, but let’s start with telling everybody what you’re doing there now and then what you’re showing here.” Thank you. Well, Deborah, what I’m now in-charge of is our Neenah Wide Format Division. Brand-new to the marketplace, only about 2 months old. And, what we’re excited about that is what we’ve got, is a whole new line of products that some people have never even thought about in the wide format area. And, as you know, with wide format, it’s growing by double digits. And so, when we’re talking about Neenah Paper, we’re all about texture, we’re all about colors, and more importantly, when we’re talking about Neenah Paper, it’s image and performance. And, we’re taking that same mantra and bringing it over to our wide format category. So, just giving you a small idea of what we’re doing, this happens to be a display case of all of our different substrates. So, we now have here, photo paper. Now, most photo paper, maybe they might want to do gloss. What about having the opportunity to do something that’s uncoated? So, now you have an uncoated version, which is conVerd photo, and this is something in a wide format, which you can now offer to your clients and say, ‘I’m just printing on paper now. Nothing else but that.’ So, giving you a great opportunity to use that and the fact that there’s a sustainability message that goes along with that.
“And, it’s hard to see on the video again. I know, I keep caveating, but the colors are very vibrant. The shading is 100 percent. You can see the gradations, and it’s not broken up. There’s no dots. I mean, I’m not going to zoom in because it’s wide format, but really, it looks like you printed on paper.” On paper. And, that’s the one thing that we tell people.
“Astrobrights. I get it.” That’s one of our brand names, and what we’ve done now, is we’ve taken our brand so we can say, ‘Guys, there are so many different opportunities with regards to white. Now, we want to give colors.’ Because now, we’re telling people, ‘You can now have a consistent color and now use that for any kind of signage.’ If you want to do, say for example, for retail, and you want to package everything up from not only the boxes and the bellybands and the tags, now you can actually do the in-store signage. Or the window, you can now make sure that everything comes together. And, with the fact that you’re printing on paper, it pops and you see some significant colors on that. All done with mostly UV and Latex, is where we focus our products line, and that’s where we see a lot of growth in that market.
“It’s very cool. Now, obviously, we’re standing in front of 10-foots boards here and it’s hard to see things. Can people get samples of this?” We can. And, what’s great about it, with Neenah Paper, you can get sample sheets all day long from us, and from that standpoint, you can just visualize rolls of that. And, if you do have wide format equipment, we can definitely work with our channel partners in the merchant channels and especially, distributor channels, to get you those for actual testing to see how it looks. And, that’s what is so important it is getting the substrate in your hand and actually putting ink on it and then, showing your clients. That’s the impact that we want to make sure we have.
