Hey everybody, I’m Trish from foldfactory, and this is your 60-second Super-cool Fold of the Week. Thanks for watching.
Also, sometimes I just like to go digging through the foldfactory archive. As you can imagine, it’s a pretty huge collection, and sometimes I just want to see if I missed anything or you know, a lot of times I have samples, kind of in the back of my mind, flagged for fold of the week, and I kind of rediscover them. So, this one I’ve always loved, and I think you’re going to love it too.
This is – technically, it’s a CD/DVD case but it’s a folded pocket format that I think could totally be used for lots of different applications, so I think you’re going to like it. This is a piece produced for Life In Abundance International, which I’ll put a link at the end of the video so you can look into the organization. So, this piece is called – It says, ‘This is my home’, and it holds a video. So, it’s got a CD/DVD and a sleeve, and also a little stitched booklet in here as well, with information. But, I want you to see this format. So, when you look at the side here, it’s got kind of a two little accordion pockets. So, there’s a little pocket here and a little pocket there, and see the folds that go up and down.
So, although it pained me to do so, I took this apart. I only had the one sample, but I wanted everybody to see how this works. So, here you go. This is so cool. So this is kind of a combination between a T-Cross and an Open Gate format glued together. So, if you watch Fold of the Week, Open Gate kind of gates in and goes back in the other direction.
So, these panels, this is how you create the pocket. You open gate it like this with a half inch tab on the other end. Those fold in. Then, this panel – By the way, there’s a box score right here, two scores. They’re about almost a quarter inch apart for this particular one, and then the cover glues down like this. So, there’s your T-cross. You can see the T-shape, and then it open gate closes down, tabs fold in, cover glues down.
So, I could totally see this, you know, casual university marketing, type of a brochure with a stitched book and maybe other information as another insert, you know, marketing brochures, all sorts of things. The scale could change on this. So, really, really cool. They used about a hundred-pound uncoated cover for this. This is die, score, fold, glue and insert. So, I hope you like it.
