Okay. I'm here at Dscoop with my paper daddy, Chris Harrold from Mohawk. Okay. Here you are at Dscoop, and you’ve just told me that you won an award as a printer.” We did. So, not only do we make paper, but we have the ability to print. So, we have a Print Innovation Center.
You do?” Yes. We have Indigo 5600 and we collaborated with the American Craft Council. So, sitting in Minneapolis like, you know, the Body in the United States for Craft in American Craftsmanship. It had been there for – It will be 75 years this year. So, we collaborated with them, sort of like a creative-in-residence, to create a book which is a catalog featuring emerging young crafts people. We did this on our 5600.
Okay. It’s really hard to see on video, just so you know.” I know. So, this is – So, stay with the words, alright? But, what's interesting is, we used dark colored paper, charcoal gray in this case. So, we used a dark charcoal grey paper and printed three hits of white and three hits of PMS match yellow.
And that’s how you got that.” So, we took full advantage of the power of the Indigo, right? Actually, it’s Loop Urban Gray, if you're playing along at home. And then, the interior pages are of course Mohawk Superfine, arguably the ultimate printing.
Arguably.” And, check this out though. So, each of these emerging artists are featured in a really stunning portrait. It features not only CMYK builds for black and white photo, but also that same match PMS color.
Right. And, how did you find these artists?” This is the American Craft Council book, right? So, they created this book, wrote the content and we're simply acting as printers. So, we're not only making the paper, but putting the ink out on the surface as well.
And, how many did you print?” It was a short run. I think we ended up doing a thousand in total and gave some to the HP Sales force, kept some for ourselves and then distributed those.
And, are you finishing them at your center too?” We’re not doing the finishing. This was finished by an outside source.
Amazing. So, why is – Mohawk is still focusing on the craft of printing which is one of my favorite subjects, as you know.” Absolutely. We’re proud paper makers.” And that will take us through 2016?” What?
This message?” This will take us through 2116.
I’m just saying that, you know, you launched the Maker Movement and –” Absolutely. We still are proudly associating ourselves with makers because we’re makers too.
Yes. I love it.” Look for us with a brand-new Maker Quarterly, entirely redesigned and a killer specification tool in June of 2016. That is like nothing we've ever done before.
And, is that a PMC exclusive?” It is a little bit overheard of here first.
Awesome. And, how can people get a maker? The Maker Quarterly, whatever it’s called.” Go to mohawkconnects.com and click on – There’s a carousel on the landing page. You can find a carousel image with a Maker Quarterly, and click on that and you'll be brought to a place where you can register to get yours.
Now, I don't know how far you are from Stamford, Connecticut, but I'm going to Pitney Bowes in a few weeks. So, you promise to host me, so I think I'm going to come over and say hello.” If you don’t come see us, I'll never speak to you again.
Okay. I'm coming. I love you so much paper daddy. Thank you so much.
