How Hunkeler has taken Bridgeport Nation...

In 1947 Bridgeport National Bindery was founded. Times were different, but Bridgeport served books of one despite all the commercial and technical differences. The product wasn't a finished book but library binding, handled in small runs. Today Bridgeport National Bindery is a modern printing- and binding company still focusing on small print runs down to copies of one. We got the chance to meet with Bruce Jacobsen, who gave us a tour of an amazing company producing beautiful hard- and softcover books. They produce 20,000 unique titles per day in peak seasons, and only possible because of their HP and Screen presses + the Hunkeler setup creating perfect book blocks! Books of one are for sure one of the mega-trends in book printing, and it's been fantastic to see how different, same equipment is utilized with different printing companies. Stay tuned for more films like this, soon on INKISH :-) LinkedIn Profile: Bruce Jacobsen https://www.linkedin.com/in/brucefjacobsen/ Richard Healy https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-healy-88615818/

Kirk Icuss measures throughput, consiste...

Most of us know how addictive this industry is, and I am not sure why Kirk Icuss decided to get back into business after selling his long-time business. BUT. Imagine starting with all the knowledge you have and then choosing the right equipment, the right finishing equipment, and maybe even the right customers to begin with? This is precisely what happened to Kirk Icuss, who know run and operates Enterprise Group Printing with help from smart employees (some even his kids) :-) This is a good film to find inspiration from!

More, Shorter, Customized Jobs · Gershon...

Visiting vendors is always fun, and when we went to Israel, we got two great opportunities: to speak with Gershon Alon and Golan Landsberg - straight from the HP V12 lab outside Tel Aviv in Israel. In this short interview with Gershon Alon, we get his view on how HP PrintOS supports the industry's megatrends - and yes, the trends are also what we see wherever your hardworking INKISH team is! More jobs, shorter jobs, and more customized jobs. The trend is apparent within almost every segment of the industry. HP PrintOS is a great software that enables printers to optimize print production, and as Gershon Alon explains, the software is vendor agnostic. Vendors like Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, EFI, and Kodak already integrates with HP PrintOS. Enjoy!

Scodix Moves in With Legacy Packaging Co...

On the border between Poland and the Czech Republic, you find a divided city called Cieszyn (on the Polish side) and Cesky Tesin (on the Czech side). The city is divided by a river, and quite amazing to see how a city lives side by side yet being in two different countries. On the Polish side, we visited a printing company called Cieszynskie Zaklady Kartoniarskie, or easier for most to say, CZK. CZK has a fantastic history and has documents from both German occupations during the second world war and being part of the communist regime until its liberation. In this film, however, we are talking with Piotr Kulikowski and Anna Wnuk about how CZK, with a major investment, moved from being entirely analog to becoming a digital packaging company with a new HP Indigo 30000 press and the new Scodix solution! Always great to see how companies with investments create interest from new customers. Enjoy!

Plastic Free Packaging made of Cellulose...

In a small company in the suburbs of TelAviv in Israel, you'll find a company called MibaStar. For years, the company has been researching and developing bread bags and food packaging materials that look and feel like plastic - but it's not. MibaStar, today part of the global packaging group PolyStar, has invented a product that has similar properties to the know mixed paper/plastic products used daily worldwide, but without the use of plastics. The journey has been quite interesting and with quite some a-ha experiences. Today CEO Itzhak Yoffe and his team can deliver finished products for bread, fish, and other products, and raw material for other printers to use. The story is amazing and shows how innovation and craftsmanship, hand in hand, can develop solutions to almost every problem defined! This is a very important step in the right direction - enjoy! Redefine Meat · Eshchar Ben-Shitrit · CE...

Is it at all possible to print "meat"? Most probably disagree that it is possible; nevertheless, this is precisely what Redefine Meat is all about! Think of meat as layers of complex structure crafted from muscle, fat, and blood, and if you can recreate the structures and replace the animal components with plant-based, you get something that not only looks like meat but have taste, texture, and feel like meat. Take that from a meat-lover. Redefine Meat is a successful startup in Tel Aviv founded by Eshchar Ben-Shitrit, supported by venture capital, and with Alon Bar-Shany as chairman, a new success is established. We got the chance to visit the lab/office in Tel Aviv and neighboring Stratasys, HP, and many other Israeli tech companies; we believe that Redefine Meat not only redefines the meat industry but how we will see food in the future! Productive Gains with Extremely Few Touc...

We don't know many who don't talk about automation, often referring to workflow automation, but in this film, you will see automation like never before. The cardboard packaging printing company Schur Pack in Germany uses Schur Pack's own (but commercially available) logistics systems - sold and distributed in collaboration with Koenig & Bauer. CEO Klaus Madsen from Schur Pack explains the motivations and background for the high automation level, ensuring zero touchpoints on the substrates printed on. Director, Per Baekgaard from Schur Technology, explains why logistics solutions are important. "The faster a machine runs, the more it costs to spend time getting paper/cardboard to and from the machine," and the productivity gains can be in the range of 12-15% - and NOT reserved to large printing companies only. Enjoy the film - you WILL be inspired! LinkedIn Profiles: CEO Klaus Madsen Director Per Baekgaard

Growing Competition Fuels Growth · Shayn...

This was - to be honest - a very funny interview to do. Shayne Huston and Pam Deacon interviewed in this film from MGC, Des Moines, Iowa, made it a blast to do - even though editor Morten Reitoft interviewed them remotely. Mail Communications Group started as a mail sorting service, and today MCG is a full-service communications company that essentially helps its customers succeed. Solimar delivers one of the core products and the backbone of the IT infrastructure. INKISH and Solimar have done many projects together, and what continues to - well - not surprising, but emphasize, is the very close and personal relationship Solimar has with their customers. Enjoy.
