The third winner of the new INKISH UNICORN Award is Aleksey Etin, owner of the Lithuanian-based company Veika. The company won the award because of its excellent Dimense product. See the print samples in this film, and you immediately see the opportunities. It's a structured print, but rather than layering like in a 3D; the paper is prepped with foam, giving the print a structure. Great technology and a well-deserved win. Congratulations!

At PRINTING United, we got a chance to meet with Colin Flinn from Horizon USA. We first met Colin Flinn back at the Think Smart Factory event in Kyoto, where he surprised us by being fluent in both Japanese and English. We have also met Flinn at several online events LIVE from Japan, where he and his team has built up a comprehensive online/offline demo facility - but now it's at PRINTING United where Colin Flinn demonstrates Horizon's new Gauze, End Paper, and bar code printing capabilities, enabling customers to use the BQ-series binders for softcover AND book blocks for hardcover books - quite amazing, but see for yourself :-)

It's been amazing seeing the Ahmedabad-based web-to-print developer's journey. We saw the company for the first time at a Print Pack show in Greater Noida in India, and from then at both Indian and international shows in many different countries. The company has developed the web-to-print solution Design'N'Buy but has recently released its DesignO software, essentially the design module from the web-to-print solution, but now possible to integrate easily with several standard eCommerce platforms - and with a comprehensive API set making it easy(er) to use in many different applications. During the pandemic, Nidhi Agrawal and her team wrote a book on becoming a successful online print retailer. Recently, the company was evenly awarded the Pinnacle Award for its software. Difficult to say this isn't a success.

The winner takes it all but in this case? Nah... the customers get an excellent and straightforward product to use to share happy memories. The Unicorn Winner Nations Photo Lab has developed a photo frame that allows customers to place and replace canvas without needing any tooling - fast, innovative, and looks excellent. Standard Finishing represents Horizon in the US, demonstrating a range of new products. In this film, Bob Flinn presents a robot-arm solution that makes it possible to operate the company's binding equipment almost without people being involved. Amazing to see it in action, and Bob Flinn also tells us about the HUGE interest from many of the attendees!

At PRINTING United, the exhibitors showed more gear than earlier, which was the case for Standard Finishing. In this film, we get a great chat with the Director of Sales, Paul J. Steinke, about the market and products, and we end with a walk-through of the Docutrim to see and understand what it does.

Tom Fitzgerald is responsible for Post Press Products for Koenig & Bauer North America, and for him and his company, PRINTING United has been very successful. In the interview, Fitzgerald can't hide his appreciation of the sales achieved - and as with the rest of the Koenig & Bauer team, everything seems to move up and forward. Good work, guys!

In this film, we wrap up our experience from PRINTING United together with Ford Bowers, the CEO of PRINTING United Alliance. Still, we also get a chance to see some of the products and print samples HP has spent the past three days showcasing. We find PRINTING United an overwhelming success - congratulations to the hard-working team. It's not an easy job to set up a show like this!

This was a very cool interview, person, and company - all three in one! At the Scodix booth, we got the chance to meet with President & CRO David Baird. His company has for years produced 'Save the Date' magnets - and we talk in the 100,000s per month. David Baird is an entrepreneur, so what's more natural than developing the concept - and voila - here you see the result of a lot of work involving vendors, paper merchants, and of course, the workflow enabling customers to order these very special sets of cards online.

The Scodix booth at PRINTING United was pretty busy during all show days. The interest in the new Scodix Ultra 6000 was immense, but it was also truly great meeting customer who utilizes the technology - some even further than the intentions of Scodix :-) Edmond Rassi is the owner of Trade Finisher in Houston and says that he wanted to extend his business with capabilities enabling customers. He also challenges brand owners as he educates designers and customers about the technology - driving more sales! 100% inspiration!

Everybody knows Sabine Lenz from PaperSpecs. Known for high-quality inspiration and education - and as she says in this film, bridge designers with technology. We met at Scodix's booth at PRINTING United in Las Vegas. We agreed that Scodix had asked us to meet as we both have a passion for embellishment, quality, and everything technology does for designers. The new SHD (Smart High Definition) technology enables finer details and negative text on foil or down to 4.5pt size embellished. Super cool, and it was fun talking to Sabine!

Solution Specialist Philip Dodge shows Editor Morten B. Reitoft Tharstern Desktop in this film. The demo takes us through how to create a quote, how Tharstern integrates with Avalare for accurate tax reporting, and finally, how Tharstern integrates with Power BI for super cool data visualization. We wanted to create a new fun award that awards a product/technology/application picked by the Intergalactic Ambassador to the Printerverse, Deborah Corn. Walking a tradeshow takes time, and finding a thing that stands out isn't always easy. However, W+D's new solution for creating creative and unique mailing solutions was picked for the opportunities it gives marketers to communicate and engage. The INKISH team salutes the pick, as it technically is a super interesting product, and as Andrew Schipke told us later, sales have already started at PRINTING United - good work!

He was happy. He was really, really happy, and for good reasons. Donald Droppo Jr. was one of the first US Scodix S75 customers years back, and here at PRINTING United 2022, he is again becoming a 'first.' Donald Droppo Jr. is the President and CEO of Sandy Hook-based Curtis Packaging - a company with historical roots in packaging back in 1845. The new Scodix Ultra 6000 offers many new technologies, and in this film, we talk about equipment, market, quality, and opportunities - great things to learn from. I would like to share one takeaway: Donald Droppo Jr. expects to use the Ultra 6000 in print runs up to 25,000 sheets, but watch, listen, and learn!

Tom Peire is the CEO of the Belgium-based company Four Pees. The company has specialized in implementation, and what the company has learned during the pandemic is that implementation work CAN be done remotely and therefore opens up a global market. At PRINTING United, CEO Tom Peire tell how important the implementation process is as it opens up for further automation using software PSPs often have already. Interesting!

The second day of PRINTING United had just started, and we were the early birds. The trio briefly touched on yesterday's findings and what to expect today. It will be a good day, visiting exciting exhibitors like HP, Design'n'Buy, Tecnau, Scodix, Koenig & Bauer, AMP, Heidelberg, Canon, Kyocera, and Solimar.

Tharstern Desktop is a comprehensive MIS solution tailored to PSPs working with everything from offset to packaging and everything in between. At PRINTING United, we got a chance to talk to Chief Revenue Officer Lee Ward from Tharstern. In an interesting interview, you will learn that the Desktop version is a strong platform with integrations to other major software platforms, able to integrate into almost any software at any given point with a strong set of APIs. Ward also gives an insight into the implementation process, time, pain stakes, and the value of choosing to upgrade existing MIS systems to Tharstern, obviously :-)  

You may find this interview a bit nerdy, but technology is not only about the result but also how to get there. John Murphy from Tharstern is extremely patient with editor Morten B. Reitoft's questions and explains the flavors of JDF, the advantages of using databases and APIs, and how Tharstern integrates other solutions enabling customers integrated solutions to almost anything in the market. PRINTING United has started, and thousands of people arrived today, filled with expectations, and so did Deborah Corn, Pat McGrew, and Morten Reitoft. Every morning we will speculate over expectations and evaluate the day passed. The first day didn't go as 100% as planned, as the Las Vegas Convention Center broke all records for bad internet. Not because you always find things to complain about, but in today's world where we need to be connected, and as a media, even more. But here we are, and hopefully, we will find a technical solution in the coming days - but enjoy :-)

PRINTING United had its first show in 2019 and planned a physical show in Atlanta in 2020. Due to the pandemic, PRINTING United soon realized that it had to either cancel, postpone or change. In this session, we hear more about the considerations, the outlook, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic directly by President Mark Subers - and most likely, we will also hear about the upcoming PRINTING United 2021 show.

Mark Subers is the President of PRINTING United and NAPCO, and in this video, we ask Mark Subers why there is a need for a new large expo - PRINTING United. The event takes place in Dallas, TX, USA October 23rd to 25th 2019 and just two weeks after Print19 in Chicago. PRINTING United grows out of the SGIA expo that for many years focused on Large Format printing. With PRINTING United NAPCO and SGIA are joining forces to attract both more visitors as well as more exhibitors.
