Mike Horsten is the Press & PR Manager for AGFA. He is ALSO very experienced and shares in this interview his views on the success the SpeedSet is expected to have. Enjoy!
Helmut Kraus from BHS explains in this interview how it is to see the Box Plant 2025 vision unfolding in front of employees, customers, and - competitors. The plan is exciting and ambitious, digitizing the entire flow from raw material to shelf products in the supermarket.
Markus Winkler is the Head of Business Unit Life Cycle/Service for BHS Corrugated - and as service and lifecycle obviously are important, his role is interesting and important. In this interview, he also explains how BHS offers solutions to essentially manage plants entirely on behalf of their customers - that can be for shorter/longer time. It's amazing how business models have changed everything these years!
BHS is one of the world's largest manufacturers of corrugating machines, and Günter Huber is the head of the business unit responsible for its development and production. BHS is working hard to deliver on the Box Plant 2025 vision that will give BHS and its customers new business opportunities, adapting to a more and more digital world - and now also adding the huge Jetliner to its product line, enabling digital print in high-quality on the liner before the currogator - amazing to witness.
This interview with Herve Milner, President of Tonernews.com, is super interesting, and though now a response to the recently published interview with David Gibbons, it's two sides of the same case. Tonernews has for 20+ years covered the manufacturing and re-manufacturing of toner/ink cartridges and has seen how overproduction and challenging business ethics have created a very unhealthy business environment. In this interview, you will certainly understand why the US ban (UFLPA) has resonated so well among some of the people in this industry segment.
In a geopolitical context, despite its size, China has never played much more than a regional role. Still, as China has become the second-largest economy in the world, it has a solid military position and an almost ongoing trade war with the US, so the role of China is changing. In the West, we can argue against trade with a country with limited human rights, freedom of speech, and many things we don't understand or want to accept. China has been able to create an economic miracle, take millions out of poverty, and become one of the leading suppliers of goods of all kinds to the rest of the world. In this 45-minute interview, Editor Morten B. Reitoft talks with David Gibbons, who, for more than 12 years, has learned about China, the country, and its population thinking; married Chinese living partly in China gives us an insight. You can agree or disagree with his viewpoints, and I do ask him if the Chinese way and the advantages he sees are worth considering trade-off - and, well, I think you might be surprised about his views of how China works. I am pleased with this interview, so I hope you will listen with an open mind, as that is what freedom of speech and democracy are all about - and the 'strange' thing is, of course, that I had to ask David Gibbons whether he is in Australia or China before sending a YouTube link - as YouTube isn't allowed in China - strange world - but the normal is maybe ALWAYS based on your view angle!
If you are not already following Gee Ranasinha and learning from his almost daily posts on LinkedIn, you should. With great insight into the human mind's understanding of what works and what doesn't work, he shares his views on topics we should all learn from. The altruistic approach to content, why clicks and likes is a highly overrated matrix, how the various SoMe platforms do everything they can to keep content and users on their platforms, etc. When we asked Gee for an interview, it was like coming home. We share many ideas, and in this format, you will be exposed to many things you should consider in your business - HIGHLY recommended!
A webinar just a few days ago said that Label Converters see up to 80% of their production being re-orders. With Labelhub, most of these orders can be 100% automated and managed by the customers freeing up capacity, enabling faster turnaround, and by all means, helping Converters. Labelhub offers their customers the option to create customer portals integrated into the Converters MIS systems. Updated designs can, with drag'n'drop, be easily replaced, proofed, stepped, and sent directly to the printing machine, including laser dies, production data, etc. Labelhub seems to be a super interesting tool, and as we speak with the founder and CEO, Peter Vogt, we learn that Labelhub is an add-on to existing MIS systems. Still, by building up the customer portals in Labelhub, you essentially make it easier for yourself if you, at some point, decide to change MIS/ERP system.
The Rogler platform is the only solution that specifically mentions the integration of robots and AGVs, and also the only solution where planning is mentioned as one of the most important features. The Swim Lane overview is excellent, and Hannes Rogler explains how AI is used to plan jobs in the best way utilizing the equipment to its max. A few hiccups because of some technology issues, but reach out to Hannes for more information!
Omikai is a Swedish Browser-based MIS solution and is a one-solution fits all MIS solution. All updates are applied to all customers, requirements accepted by the development team are delivered to all customers, and with a flexible pricing model, Omikai fits all types of customers. In the demo, CEO and Founder Mathias Erlandsson showed us the flow in Omikai, which includes changing variable data as an end-customer in an uploaded PDF, pricing, integration to various solutions, planning, shipping, etc.
A great presentation :-)
CERM is by far one of the most thought-after MIS/ERP solutions among label converters - and as we have visited Converters who work with CERM, there is a reasonable reason for the choice. The demos are excellent, the software solves the challenges Converters have and then supports the product, and now the integration to Microsoft Power BI is giving customers options like never before. In this webinar, CERM has decided to focus on the BI functions and the 18 standard reporting tools provided in the optional solution. Fran Boey has a background in the BI-World, and guides us smoothly through how reports can be created, giving customers THE overview!
arifiQ started as an estimation tool in times when estimation took a while. Their claim was a quotation in less than a minute, and not only has arifiQ developed into a full MIS system, but calculations are now instant and offer an interesting approach to pricing, for example, an InDesign plug-in enabling the designers to get quotes based on the design, format, number of pages directly in InDesign - and even ordering directly as well. arifiQ can also make an estimate based on an uploaded PDF, where arifiQ takes the size and number of pages and matches this to a product - and return an instant price. The ideas are solidly based on in-depth knowledge of being printers themselves. The Swedish company started with domain knowledge and added programming to the solution - now globally available, also integrated into HP PrintOS and many other OEM workflow solutions. Enjoy the presentation!
Getting into the hands of Dataline is a safe experience. Covering all aspects of the process, from estimations, planning, web portals, APIs, invoicing, and ERP functions, to mention just a few of the features that make Multipress from Dataline a safe choice. In the presentation, you will see how even complex jobs like hardcover books are calculated, how quick quotations are fast, still comprehensive, and integrated into the entire flow of an order into the production. Dataline is working on extending its presence in the market and has today more than 10,000 users in Europe, but even see other continents as potential play-grounds :-) Enjoy this REPLAY session!
In the last session of our #LearnWithUs, we meet Craig from PrintIQ in the US. The US is a relatively new market for the New Zealand-based MIS developer, but according to Craig C. Powell, America loves PrintIQ. After a presentation and overview of PrintIQ, we get into the more interesting part of this session, where we see how PrintIQ addresses different topics differently from the other solutions - but see it for yourself - PrintIQ also looks like a nice software to consider :-)
Leland Morgen takes us through the Durst Lift solution with ease and confidence. Leland has experience working with multiple ERP/MIS solutions, and during the presentation, it feels that Durst Lift is 'home' and, therefore, an answer that he can easily vouch for. Lift differs from other solutions, as almost the entire user interface is shared with customers, who can view orders, specify quantities, proof a project, and essentially do everything from a browser. Lift customers can use Lift for all types of job, but no question that Lift is developed with the product that Durst deliver in mind!
This session was nothing but super great, as Michael Bradley from Printvis did an excellent demo and involved Scott and Hugh (customers) in the presentation. Built on Microsoft Business Software makes PrintVis capable of almost everything, and though it can do much, the upgraded Microsoft UI makes the system look and feel smooth as butter. Great presentation!
In this INKISH #LearnWithUs webinar, we focus on tips & tricks for using films in your communication. INKISH, Head of Production, Žiga Kovač, gives you tips on how to use your SmartPhone for production. Ed Cornelissen hereafter talks about why he, as a printer, uses films to communicate and teach his audience. Finally, Editor Morten B. Reitoft shares the anatomy of storytelling - what to do and what not to do. See or see it again to learn!
In this session, Morten B. Reitoft explains his view on branding vs. marketing and why branding is the better option for CapEx investments. The logic is simple - PSPs and Converters don't buy anything based on a single point of communication, so why should a conversion lead to anything relevant - and how many times should the same lead be generated over a period of 3-6-12 months before it reverts into a REAL conversion - namely the sales? In the session, Morten B. Reitoft also explains how he sees the role of marketing in a company - regardless of whether it's with an OEM or a PSP. You don't have to agree!

Whenever you see a Scodix at work, you immediately understand that this machinery is unique. The output may look like conventional embellishments but with an ever-increasing demand for shorter runs, customization and more - most understand the need for digital is vast. At every tradeshow where Scodix exhibits you see some of the most beautiful print samples on the planet, and they do understand how vital the "look" is to both print service providers and brand-owners. In this film, we are talking to the relatively new CEO Adina Shorr, and her approach to the market is great - it's not only about the right look but maybe even more about changing packaging and print from being functional to being a marketing communication piece at the same time. Listen to her and get great insight about Scodix and how they see whether Scodix sees themselves as a replacement or a complimentary to the existing line of embellishment equipment in the market.
