Daniel Erni · CEO · Hunkeler · PRINTING United 2025

At Printing United 2025 in Orlando, Morten Reitoft from INKISH sits down with Daniel Erni, CEO of Hunkeler, to discuss the company’s new joint branding with Müller Martini, the success of the show, and preparations for Hunkeler Innovationdays 2027.

Daniel smiles as he confirms the obvious: “Yes, we introduced our new combined logo here in the U.S. — the perfect place to do it. The integration between Hunkeler and Müller Martini has been progressing very well, and it made sense to present that unity at the Müller Martini booth.”

He explains that since Hunkeler joined the Müller Martini Group, the two companies have been co-developing technology — most notably, a shared user interface for their systems. “It’s already live in the field,” Daniel says. “Customers are running the new Generation 8 Evo line, and the feedback is fantastic. Combining software development resources just makes sense today — skilled engineers are rare, so working together helps both companies move faster.”

Turning to the show, Daniel notes that Printing United has been stronger than he expected: “I was a little skeptical about coming to Orlando, but it’s been great. The booth has been busy from morning until evening, and we’ve had valuable meetings with customers all day.”

Looking ahead, Daniel confirms that preparations for Hunkeler Innovationdays 2027 in Lucerne are already well underway. “We’re talking to exhibitors, sending invitations, and planning the same successful format,” he says. “We’re not reinventing the event — it works. Our goal is to serve the industry and continue its growth.”

Asked about rumors of hosting Innovationdays in the U.S., Daniel laughs: “Yes, we did consider it at one point. But Lucerne is our home, and people love coming there. It’s not just about the event — it’s also about the experience. Visitors can bring their partners, enjoy Switzerland, and combine business with a bit of leisure. That’s something special.”

He ends on a light note about the strong Swiss franc: “It may be expensive for us to come here,” he says with a grin, “but for Americans visiting Switzerland, it’s never been more affordable.”
