Zumbiel is one of the companies on my bucket list for a long time, and now we have the chance. Zumbiel has specialized in folding carton boxes for beers and softdrinks - and despite being a company of a specific size, they consider them small compared to the big players - but that also gives Zumbiel a unique position in the market, serving the customers that from time to time have circulations that are better suited for the mixed technology mix offered by Zumbiel. Zumbiel has several flexo-presses, VLF offset presses, and the HP T-470 inkjet printer. The T470 is a workhorse, and Mike Zumbiel explains that digital machines are so productive that he sometimes wonders if he has bought his last analogue press. The HP T700i is enormous, and talking to Jason Hower, the Lead System Engineer on the machine, is proud - and with right. The machine is made for the lamination market, liner printing for corrugated converters, and if you think digital is short-run, rethink! The T700i runs as fast as almost any offset press, and the operational cost is so low that the break-even is in the thousands. We go into many details in this walkthrough, so please skip forward if you are more interested in any other section of the machine. HP T700i uses the newest generation of HP's thermo printhead with ink-recycle features, saving ink. The machine is fast and features technology that is, for now, only found on its larger brother, the T11XX series, and the new T4250, not yet launched. In short, it means faster, better quality, and better operational cost. Fantastic opportunity for us to get close to the machine, and we hope it will also be a learning journey for you.

HP stand attracted so much attention with their book solutions that finding space on the stand was a challenge. Yale Goddis and I decided to speak about the new T4250 HDR Press they announced a few weeks ago. The press is positioned as a viable alternative to offset for longer run jobs, so I wanted to do a deep dive into some features of the 4250, like the inks, the drying and, of course, the finishing, solutions that can keep up with this level of production efficiency
