At LabelExpo in Barcelona, Wayne from INKISH speaks with Mark Tingler, Product Marketing Manager at Epson, about their brand-new SurePress label press.
Mark explains that the new SurePress uses water-based inks like its predecessors but now features a new 1200 dpi single-pass printhead, which delivers both higher resolution and much greater productivity. The machine also includes significantly enhanced automation — for example, fully automatic head maintenance and real-time nozzle verification: as it prints, it checks every nozzle. It compensates instantly for any issues to prevent print defects.
Each SurePress ships with an Esko DFE for color management and workflow integration, and Fiery integration is being evaluated, especially in light of Fiery’s recent acquisition by Seiko.
Mark notes strong interest at the show, with a unit already running at a customer site in Japan, another sold to a customer at LabelExpo, and more orders in the pipeline. He says the launch has been very positive and that they’re looking forward to more global installations soon.
