Renee Walsh · President · T.I. Group
At PRINTING United 2026 in Las Vegas, Morten B. Reitoft meets Renée Walsh, President of TI Group in Toronto, for a conversation about growth, equipment investment and why flexibility is particularly important in the Canadian market.
TI Group operates across a broad range of applications, including commercial print, packaging, direct mail, corporate interiors and retail graphics. Within wide format, the company has built a significant Agfa installation, including Tauro H3300 UHS and Tauro H2500 systems.
For Renée, one of the attractions is the combination of speed and flexibility.
Canada is a significantly smaller market than the United States, and that often means shorter production runs and frequent changeovers. TI Group therefore needs equipment that can move efficiently between roll-to-roll and rigid applications rather than being optimized for only one type of work.
But Renée also explains an important part of TI Group’s investment philosophy: they don’t simply buy capacity and hope customers will come.
The business comes first.
TI Group typically invests once it can already see demand developing in existing customer relationships or in new opportunities. That makes ROI, utilization and production volumes critical parts of the calculation before another press reaches the floor.
Having Agfa’s Canadian organization close to TI Group is another advantage. Access to technicians, parts, the innovation center and local support — all in Canadian dollars — plays an important role in the relationship.
And Renée describes it very much as a relationship rather than simply buying another machine. Agfa’s people understand TI Group’s business, remain curious about where the company is heading and continue developing technology that can help it grow.
The interview ends with another TI Group colleague, Sunny, adding perhaps the simplest description of that relationship:
Agfa doesn’t just promise. They prove it.
