Printing United 2023 · Stephen Miller · Chief Digital Officer (CDO) · Xerox

AI is everywhere, and Xerox works with AI as part of its technology offerings – of course, we were about to say. In this film, we speak with Stephen Miller, Xerox’s Chief Digital Officer, about AI in general and AI, specifically how Xerox will use it to improve customers’ profitability, uptime, etc. It was super nice talking to Stephen Miller, and maybe you can learn something as well?

At Printing United in Orlando, Morten B. Reitoft from INKISH speaks with Merrill Moisha Clark from Xerox about the company’s re-entry into the inkjet production print market and the introduction of the new 900 series. Clark, who brings both technical and commercial expertise, explains that the 900 series marks an important milestone for Xerox as it expands its portfolio to include a new generation of compact, efficient inkjet systems designed for everyday production environments. The model shown at the event represents Xerox’s renewed commitment to innovation, versatility, and sustainability in production printing. Clark explains that while the 900 series is developed in collaboration with Kyocera, Xerox differentiates its version through its powerful software ecosystem, workflow automation, and color science. The system is fully integrated with Xerox’s FreeFlow Core and Vision Connect platforms, allowing customers to benefit from Xerox’s deep experience in color management, profiling, and automation. This ensures accurate, vibrant color reproduction and a simplified workflow that reduces manual intervention and increases uptime. The new platform also gives Xerox sales teams access to a market segment between transactional and high-end color printing, providing an ideal solution for high-volume jobs such as letters, invoices, and statements. Energy efficiency and simplicity are key design features of the 900 series. Clark points out that the press operates entirely on standard 110-volt outlets, requiring no HVAC systems or external exhausts, and that its dryer operates at a modest 90 degrees. The machine performs effectively across a wide range of conditions — from 15% to 80% relative humidity and 50° to 90°F — while maintaining consistent print quality and low energy consumption. This makes it accessible to a broader range of print shops, including those looking for an inkjet solution without major infrastructure upgrades. Clark also discusses how the 900 series fits seamlessly into Xerox’s broader production ecosystem. It complements existing toner-based systems, such as Primelink, Irides, and Baltoro, enabling hybrid workflows where customers can combine inkjet and toner technologies based on their application needs. This flexibility allows Xerox users to handle everything from short-run booklets to high-volume commercial jobs with consistent quality and efficiency. Throughout the discussion, Clark emphasizes collaboration — both internally at Xerox and with customers and partners. She notes that understanding the customer’s shop floor, workflow, and challenges is essential to delivering meaningful solutions rather than one-size-fits-all products. The interview concludes with Morten B. Reitoft praising Merrill Moisha Clark’s passion and drive, which clearly reflect Xerox’s revitalized spirit and commitment to advancing production print technology.

Printing United 2023 · Andrew Gunn · VP , Global Production Marketing · Xerox

We promised to ask Xerox if they are leaving the professional production space after many speculations - and the answer from VP Global Production Marketing, Andrew Gunn, gave us a loud and clear 'no' to this question. With a renewed agreement with Fujifilm about developing new products, this is at least not something to be worried about now. What is MORE interesting, however, is Xerox's focus on marketing automation, AI, and many more things that, in our view, add value for Xerox customers but eventually free Xerox from specific hardware platforms. Like HP's PrintOS can be used with other brands, so is it for Xerox - if we understand Gunn correctly - but listen to Andrew Gunn and judge yourself. To us, great and encouraging statements from Xerox.

At the Graphics Canada show, INKISH talked to the Head of Global Product Marketing and Product Life Cycle, Andrew Gunn from Xerox, about something called Genesis. The great thing about Genesis is that it has become part of the XEROX DNA as it's about how Xerox customers and their customers can become more profitable using the Beyond CMYK+ technology and in the interview part in the same film with Global Product Marketing Manager Billy Stojanovski, talk about another theme with Xerox, 'Better Together.' 'Better Together' is very much about utilizing different types of technology, so you, for example, use one type of technology for covers and another for content - to optimize your profit. INKISH believes most PSPs already understand this, but by emphasizing this once again, Xerox is taking the lead in educating customers - that gives an A in our minds :-)

Beyond CMYK and many people at the Xerox booth makes the people we talk to very happy, obviously. Andrew Gunn talks about the Xerox Iridesse platform, and we realize it may be the only CMYK+ machine on the show floor. Enjoy!
