Seth Austin · Business Development & Print Solutions · Craft Signs and Specialty Print
At PRINTING United 2026 in Las Vegas, Morten B. Reitoft meets Seth Austin from Craft Signs and Specialty Printing in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Agfa booth to talk about what investing in more production capacity actually means for a wide-format printer.
Craft Signs recently added an Agfa Jeti Tauro H2500 alongside its existing Canon Colorado, and Seth immediately noticed the difference when it came to longer production runs. Jobs that previously required considerably more production time can now move through the Tauro much faster, while the Colorado remains an excellent solution for shorter runs and applications where quick setup is important.
But speed isn’t the only part of the calculation.
Seth explains that Craft is also seeing lower ink consumption, estimating savings of around three to four cents per square foot. When monthly production reaches 90,000 or 100,000 square feet, those numbers quickly become significant.
The biggest benefit, however, may be what increased production speed allows Craft to do for its customers.
After combining the Tauro with new cutting capacity, Craft recently completed a major job three days ahead of schedule. That allowed the customer to ship around 800 packages using ground transportation instead of overnight delivery — creating thousands of dollars in savings that had nothing directly to do with the price of the print itself.
And that is where productivity becomes customer service.
Customers increasingly spend longer preparing campaigns but give printers less time to actually produce them. Faster printing and finishing therefore aren’t simply about putting more work through the factory. They allow the printer to solve problems, beat deadlines and sometimes create savings for customers that are far greater than the cost of the print.
