Learn how the Internet of Things, finishing automation, and Horizon’s cloud-based iCE LiNK digital workflow can help optimize productivity and efficiency, and leverage Smart Factory concepts. This approach can help printers efficiently scale their business as volume grows, without having to add labor and hard-to-find manpower. Understanding finishing capabilities and successfully using them as part of an overall, streamlined workflow, from print to finish, will help minimize touch points, waste, and labor costs, and maximize productivity and profitability.
Hunkeler has been a pioneer, together with partners like Horizon International, integrating post press with advanced automation. Morten Reitoft will moderate a wide-ranging discussion between Hans Gut of Hunkeler and Mark Hunt of Standard Finishing Systems to review state-of-the-industry in Smart Manufacturing, and how lean principles, process automation and intelligent connectivity are guiding post press product development. To stay competitive today, printers are looking to lower labor costs, minimize touch points and streamline data-driven production workflows. Hunkeler solutions address nearly every print market segment – commercial, direct mail, book manufacturing and transactional print – so this lively exchange of ideas will cover lots of ground.
To establish a smart factory a digital mindset and 360-degree business solutions are needed. We present our interpretation of a smart factory with the goal of full automation of repetitive task and a self-optimizing production. The scope is not limited to the digitalization of production and print data workflows or to automate production lines with smart and connected machines but includes the sales process, customer communication and enterprise resource planning. To make it tangible, we discuss a potential end-2-end business solution using the example of a personalized face mask and cookie box from the creation of a business idea to the shipped product – from Pixel to Output.

How Industry 4.0 will change your business model? The Business Model Canvas helps you to understand its impact – let’s see how.
The next industrial revolution has already arrived. With a continuing surge in new technology and data analytics, the first generation of Industry 4.0 is rapidly making automation essential on the Production Print floor. Meanwhile, we continue to evolve towards the fifth industrial revolution focused on mass customization and personalization for customers. Though the need for an automated workflow is becoming universal, there’s no one-size-fits all solution. Jobs flow differently in commercial print shops than they do in high-volume transactional data centers, direct mail houses, or book manufacturing.
During this session, you will hear from industry experts from Canon the advantages of automating the entire production print process from start to finish.
Speaker for this session are:
