André Albrecht Head of Myze & Micr...

At FESPA in Barcelona, Editor-in-Chief Morten Reitoft speaks with André Albrecht from Brother Industries about software, automation, workflows, and why connected ecosystems are becoming increasingly important in textile and garment production. The conversation explores how Brother’s software ambitions are expanding far beyond traditional DTG workflows and toward a broader ecosystem that integrates DTG, DTF, embroidery, large-format solutions, and, eventually, products from the newly acquired Mutoh portfolio. André Albrecht explains why workflow software is no longer just about production automation, but also about analytics, service, support, sales enablement, and helping customers grow their businesses. The discussion also touches on AI, open workflows, connected hardware, and why software development has become one of the biggest strategic areas for future growth in print production. An insightful conversation about how software, connectivity, and workflow intelligence are increasingly becoming as important as the hardware itself.

AMS Spectral UV on brand new fully equip...

Arriving at the Windles Group headquarters in Thame indicated that this printing company is above most - and we weren't disappointed. Windles Group has specialized in the production of greeting cards and other, well, let's say, more complicated printed products that include covers and other products where you need to go the extra mile to get what you want. The brand new Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106 printing press is a perfector press. Still, it has built-in multiple curing systems - one is the AMS Spectral UV LED curing system, which we will hear and learn more about as the nice folks from AMS Spectral UV sponsor this INKISH film. The four curing systems on the press give Windles Group options to pick the right dryer or the right combination of driers to create stunning prints with PMS colors, foil, embossing, even metal dust, and more. Miles Podmore is the 3rd. Generation, head of production, has a new engineering degree and is now very pleased about his job, where he can combine his education with his passion for hands-on production. Super nice visit - and shout out to Jack Fischer - our new filmer - who filmed this project - Ziga still mastered the editing :-)

Amitabh Luthra · Managing Director Print...

On the final day of Printpack India, Wayne Beckett from Inkish catches up with Amitabh, Managing Director of Print and Supply, to discuss the show’s success and the state of the Indian print market. Despite a slightly lower footfall than expected, Amitab emphasizes the quality of visitors, noting that the attendees were highly relevant industry professionals seeking valuable insights and business opportunities. A key topic of discussion is Print and Supply’s role as the Indian representative for Edale, the renowned British manufacturer of flexographic and digital hybrid printing presses. While importing UK-made equipment presents cost challenges due to high exchange rates, Amitabh highlights Edale’s reputation for top-tier engineering, often called the "Rolls-Royce of the printing industry." The company focuses in India on sales, after-sales support, and marketing, ensuring strong local representation for the brand. Wayne and Amitabh also delve into the rapid growth of India’s label and packaging sector, which has surged in recent years. Amitabh attributes this expansion to the country’s strong economic performance and consistent year-on-year growth despite global challenges. Another major development is Print and Supply’s partnership with Xeikon, which was formalized at Drupa last year. Amitab explains that there is no conflict of interest between Edale and Xeikon. Canon-owned Edale specializes in flexographic technology, while Xeikon focuses purely on digital presses. This allows Print and Supply to offer a complementary portfolio, addressing India's increasing demand for digital printing solutions. With a bright future ahead and the increasing adoption of advanced print technologies, Amitabh is optimistic about the Indian market’s trajectory. As the show wraps up, he returns to finalize deals, reinforcing the strong momentum built during Printpack India.

Ahuja highlights the two presses showcased at the exhibition: a 450mm press designed for labels, shrink sleeves, and select flexible packaging applications and a 670mm press built for full-scale flexible packaging production. With top-of-the-line automation and real-world speeds of up to 200 meters per minute, these presses deliver unmatched performance for modern packaging needs. Multitec’s global presence continues to grow, with recent exports to Hungary and Switzerland and an established footprint in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Alper Çifçi Business Development & ...

At Canon's Power to Move event in Venlo, Morten B. Reitoft speaks with Alper Çifçi, Deputy General Manager of Meteksan, one of Turkey's largest and most diversified printing companies. With approximately 400 employees and deep roots in both secure printing and educational publishing, Meteksan occupies a unique position in the Turkish market. Çifçi explains how his own journey from production management to business development has given him a practical understanding of both manufacturing operations and the strategic decisions required to guide a modern printing business through a rapidly changing industry. A significant part of the discussion focuses on Meteksan's role in producing secure examination materials and educational content for Turkey. Operating under strict security requirements, the company has developed extensive expertise in managing highly sensitive print production workflows. Beyond its domestic activities, Çifçi also sees opportunities for Turkish know-how to support educational and examination printing initiatives in other regions, including Africa, where demand for localized secure printing capabilities continues to grow. The conversation then turns to one of Meteksan's newest initiatives: book-of-one production. Working in collaboration with a government university, the company has launched a project that combines digital printing, efficient distribution, and sustainability objectives. Located in Ankara, Meteksan benefits from a central position that supports nationwide distribution, reduces transportation requirements, and improves responsiveness. As publishing markets continue to evolve, Çifçi believes digital printing has become increasingly important. Growing title counts, changing demand patterns, and the need for greater flexibility are pushing publishers toward digital production models that would have been difficult to justify only a few years ago. For Meteksan, this creates opportunities to expand both its publishing services and its production capabilities. The discussion also explores the technologies showcased at Canon's Customer Experience Center, including the VarioPress iV7 and the ProStream platform. Çifçi explains why the combination of high-quality sheetfed inkjet and high-volume roll-fed inkjet is particularly attractive for a company serving both educational publishing and commercial print markets. The ability to match production methods to specific applications while maintaining quality and efficiency is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage. Beyond technology, the conversation touches on Turkey's unique economic and geographic position. Situated between Europe and Asia, Turkey continues to serve as an important bridge between markets, cultures, and business opportunities. Despite economic challenges and periods of high inflation, Çifçi remains optimistic about growth opportunities, emphasizing that continued investment and business development are essential for companies that want to strengthen their position in the years ahead. Recorded at Canon's Power to Move event in Venlo, this interview offers insight into the ambitions of one of Turkey's leading print providers and highlights the growing role digital printing is playing in the transformation of educational publishing and secure print production.
