Pawandeep Sahni · Managing Director · OM...

On the final day of Printpack India, Wayne Beckett from Inkish meets with Pawandeep, the Managing Director of OMET India, to discuss the company’s growing presence in the Indian market. Pawandeep reflects on a highly successful exhibition that exceeded expectations with the quality of visitors and strong engagement throughout the event. OMET, an Italian manufacturer of high-end printing presses, has expanded its footprint in India since 2019. Despite the challenges of selling European presses in a highly competitive market, Pawandeep explains that the growing base of label printers has fueled demand for more sophisticated machines. OMET’s unique selling point lies in its ability to provide fully customized printing solutions, offering a combination of flexo, offset, gravure, and digital printing in a single press. With six different platforms, 13 variants, and hundreds of customization options, OMET ensures that no two solutions are alike, tailoring each system to the customer’s needs. Beyond the technology, OMET India is actively addressing the industry’s skills gap with its "OMET Throughput" program, which focuses on machine maintenance, training, and new product development. This initiative helps printers maximize their investment by ensuring operators are well-trained and equipped to handle advanced printing techniques. Looking ahead, OMET will exhibit at Label Expo Barcelona, continuing its momentum in the global print industry. With India’s massive market potential and focus on high-value, complex printing applications, OMET is well-positioned for further growth.

Paul Bromley · Sales Director · Infigo ·...

Wayne from INKISH caught up with Paul Bromley from Infigo at The Print Show in Birmingham, continuing what has already been a busy season of trade fairs after drupa and Labelexpo. For Paul and his team, the UK event is an important one. Infigo is based in Britain with a fast-growing local team, and supporting national shows is part of demonstrating that web-to-print is not just a global conversation but something that matters to printers at home too. On this occasion, Infigo shared a stand with PrintIQ, with a focus firmly on integration. Paul explained that the partnership has been developing for more than six years to create an automated workflow that eliminates double entry and bridges the skills gap that many printers face as experienced staff retire and fewer younger people enter the trade. Orders entered into an Infigo B2B or B2C portal can now be transferred directly into PrintIQ with artwork, job specifications, purchase orders, payment details and production data carried across automatically. From that point, the only intervention needed is to check press time and materials. Everything else flows without manual touchpoints, right through to production and dispatch, with tracking information shared back to the customer. Paul stressed that the ambition is to give power back to buyers, who increasingly expect the same kind of transparency and self-service tools they enjoy when shopping on Amazon. Allowing customers to check the status of their jobs online, rather than having to pick up the phone, frees up time for printers and keeps them available twenty-four hours a day. He cited figures showing that this kind of automation equates to an additional 118 days of customer service compared to adding another staff member. When asked whether a PSP can simply set up a portal and wait for the orders to roll in, Paul laughed. The reality, he said, is more nuanced. Business-to-business is the easier starting point, because it involves transitioning existing clients into an online environment where they can enjoy the convenience of automated ordering. Business-to-consumer, by contrast, is a longer game that requires serious marketing commitment. Infigo supports printers on this journey with detailed documentation, a sixty-five-page best-practice guide, and connections to specialist marketing partners who can help drive traffic and growth. Education plays a significant role in the strategy. The company has launched the Infigo Academy, a resource designed to make customers self-sufficient, and it backs this up with a steady flow of webinars. Software never stands still, Paul pointed out, and Infigo’s two-week release cycle is evidence of a business that listens to the industry and updates its platform at a pace that keeps customers competitive. The conversation ended with Paul looking ahead to the next stop on the calendar, Printing United in Orlando. With a smile, he joked that trade shows feel relentless. Still, the energy at The Print Show proved just how important it is to be present, to demonstrate technology in action, and to continue the conversation about how printers can adapt to a digital-first marketplace.

Paul Bromley · Head of Global Sales · In...

On the final day of Printing United Expo in Orlando, with just about an hour left before the show closed, Wayne Beckett from INKISH caught up with Paul Bromley from Infigo. “Good to see you again, Paul,” Wayne began. “Here we are—another trade show, another interview.” Paul laughed. “Yeah, three weeks ago we were in not-so-sunny Birmingham, and now we’re in sunny Orlando. It’s been absolutely fantastic. This show has really become our main event. The number of existing and new customers we’ve met has been unreal.” When asked what American PSPs were focusing on this year, Paul didn’t hesitate. “There are three key things we’re hearing again and again—automation, integration, and e-commerce,” he said. “We sat in on the NAPCO session on Wednesday morning, and those same three priorities came up as the main focus for companies that want to grow or even just stay competitive. That’s exactly where Infigo is positioned.” Wayne pointed out that this seemed to fit Infigo perfectly. “It really does,” Paul agreed. “We’ve built our reputation around workflow and integration. Everyone knows we connect with just about every system out there. But something new that’s coming up everywhere is AI. It’s not going away—it’s only going to become more relevant. That’s why we’ve partnered with Printess. They’re helping automate the creative side, where users don’t have artwork or imagery and need to generate templates. Once that’s done, the job flows directly into Infigo via our platform, then to automation tools like Switch. We’re always looking for the gaps our customers face and finding ways to fill them.” Wayne asked Paul to describe the Infigo ecosystem for anyone who hadn’t yet visited their booth. “At our core, we’ve got our MegaEdit editor, which is a cornerstone of Infigo,” Paul said. “It’s been leading the market for years and isn’t going anywhere. In addition, our platform supports both B2B and B2C workflows. That flexibility is key because some printers focus on business clients, while others sell directly to consumers. We sit right in the middle of that business, pulling data from and pushing data to MIS and ERP systems. Our partnership with printIQ is a great example—it’s one of the tightest integrations out there. In fact, many visitors went straight from our booth to theirs to explore joint solutions. We’re not just selling a product anymore; we’re helping customers find the best setup for their entire operation.” E-commerce, Paul explained, has become a significant growth area. “We’re seeing companies that never considered e-commerce before now jumping in,” he said. “For example, large corrugated businesses are starting to build portals for micro print runs, giving their customers new options while still managing high-volume work. The same thing is happening in labels—smaller runs are now profitable thanks to digital presses like HP, Domino, and Xeikon. We’re proud to work with all of them. The timing is perfect.” Wayne mentioned that Infigo had also been at Labelexpo. “Yes,” Paul said, “we got a lot of interest there. We integrate with MIS providers like LabelTraxx and CERM—great systems for label production. Labels have always been good for us, but since Labelexpo, they’ve become very good. The market is shifting fast, and we’re ready for it.” He added that many American printers were diversifying, which aligns well with Infigo’s capabilities. “We’re seeing more commercial printers moving into labels, DTF, and DTG work,” he said. “When we do demos, we show them how Infigo supports that entire journey. Whether it’s standard 2D proofs, 3D renders for apparel or packaging, or wide-format jobs, it’s all supported. Garments, promotional items, folding cartons, corrugated packaging—the list goes on. We’re a one-stop shop.” Wayne smiled. “Paul, as always, it’s great to talk to you. Funny how we both live in the UK, but we only seem to meet abroad.” Paul laughed. “That’s true. Thanks for stopping by, Wayne—and thanks for the continued support.”

In the first INKISH episode of 2025, Patrik Knutsson from Norway discusses his work in the printing industry. With a background rooted in a family printing business, Patrik Knutsson transitioned from running his own ventures, such as co-founding Copycat, a successful printing chain, to developing groundbreaking projects, Print.page. The conversation explores the industry's ongoing challenges, particularly the difficulty of effectively communicating product specifications to customers in a predominantly digital era. Patrik Knutsson introduces the Periodic Table of Print and Graphic Elements (PTPGE), a structured and visual classification system inspired by the periodic table in chemistry. The PTPGE is designed to simplify and standardize the understanding of printing processes and materials, benefiting professionals and customers. The discussion highlights the PTPGE's potential to enhance e-commerce solutions, improve customer experiences, and support sustainability by providing transparency in the production process. Patrik Knutsson emphasizes the collaborative nature of the project, inviting industry professionals to contribute to its development. The initiative is presented as a valuable tool for driving innovation and efficiency in the printing industry.

Patrik Huettig · BHS · Teamleader Packag...

With digital print and the BoxPlant 2025 vision from BHS comes the necessity for workflow, and BHS need a VERY fast and very scalable workflow solution that does not only handle the print but all the things around how they see the future of packaging. A tiny insight to this is understanding that a simple QR code can have SO many different functions depending on where in the workflow the code appears - and can therefore be both a marketing and messaging driver for the consumer, as well as a tracking and initiator of different processes from file-creation, to planning, to substrates, to print, to corrugating, to converting, to the finished box making, logistics, and shipping. An enormous task that requires software specifically supporting the vision! Patrik Huettig has domain knowledge and understands the entire flow, and is, therefore, in our mind, quite ideal as the team leader bridging all the needs and making it happen! GREAT vision - and we are excited to see everything in action!

That picture shows a nice home where I work right now. The sunlight may be visualizing that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. We're getting through this together. And for me, it was important to stress that has been a long time. But you always should stay positive and optimistic. And I'm working for an organization who provides me the strength and this positive attitude. This is basically the reason why I sent you this picture. I'm a German. So Germans like it in a much structured way. Sometimes upstairs, sometimes downstairs, sometimes on the sofa or a couch. My work situation was completely different. I was traveling about 150 days a year. US, Asia, Africa, Latin America. I was all over the world. It is important to understand that when you work remotely, you easily feel disconnected. My organization, BW Papersystems or the Barry-Wehmiller Group. We have a culture which helps us to stay connected. And I feel that I matter. It talks about the leadership style and that everything what matters is the people within an organization. We have 40 hours a week where we touch the people in our organization as an employer. 40 times more than any church probably. You have a huge impact whether the person is happy or not happy. People are more satisfied and more fulfilled. They go home and they are better family, fathers, mothers, sisters. That has an impact on the family. Bob always says: That is the answer to world peace. This machine is cutting paper and board to sheets. This is one of the larger machines we typically build. Things go well and the team spirit is up. It's a very small machine, very compact, maybe as large as my desk here. Cuts very sensitive materials at a high speed. So, for example, the pharmaceutical leaflets. You see me on this picture. That was one of the few moments where I was in contact with customers. We could show the machine. It was really fun to talk to people.
