Patrick Vreven · Director EMEA Business ...

Pat McGrew from Inkish interviews Patrick Vreven from CERM at LabelExpo. Patrick explains that CERM continues to grow by integrating with more partners, such as Esko and HP, and by launching new features, including an AI-driven solution introduced at the show. This new AI system is designed to analyze customer data, restructure it, and feed it into CERM’s system to reduce manual work, job redundancy, and errors, as well as speed up quoting, order integration, and production scheduling. He highlights their scheduling optimizer, which uses rule-based real-time optimization to adapt to production changes and incidents, reducing setup time, waste, and costs—important since material can represent around 50% of a label job’s cost. Patrick emphasizes that their approach to AI is not just adding a chatbot but using AI to directly improve operational efficiency and decision-making. The solution is still in testing with some customers, and CERM is carefully addressing data security and other considerations before broader rollout. He concludes that CERM is focused on helping customers work more efficiently while continuing to innovate in the label and packaging sector.

Patrick Lehmann · Sales Director · Hunke...

At Printpack India 2025, Wayne Beckett catches up with Patrick Lehmann, General Manager of Hunkeler Far East, to discuss the company’s presence in the Indian market and the evolving landscape of digital finishing. With over 30 years at Hunkeler, including a background in R&D and extensive experience in global sales, Patrick shares valuable insights into the company’s journey in India and across the Asia-Pacific region. Hunkeler has had a strong footprint in India for over two decades, initially making its mark in the transactional and direct mail sectors. However, as digital print technology has evolved, the company has been actively educating the market on the benefits of automated publishing solutions. Despite a surge in low-cost solutions from Chinese and local manufacturers, Hunkeler remains committed to providing high-quality finishing equipment that meets the demands of high-volume and high-value applications. Looking ahead, Hunkeler is gearing up for its flagship event, Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, where industry leaders will get an exclusive look at the latest advancements in print and finishing automation. Patrick is optimistic about bringing key Indian customers to the event, reinforcing Hunkeler’s commitment to showcasing cutting-edge technology and maintaining strong relationships in the region. This interview offers a fascinating look at the challenges and opportunities in India’s print industry, highlighting the importance of innovation, quality, and long-term vision in a competitive market.

Patrick Berverling · Purchasing Manager ...

Morten Reitoft from Inkish interviews Patrick from Geostick at the CERM booth during LabelExpo in Barcelona. Patrick explains how he led Geostick’s transition to a paperless production workflow. About 1.5 years ago, when a printer breakdown halted production because physical job tickets couldn’t be printed, he questioned why they weren’t already paperless. Although the company already had digital job tickets and computers, they were still printing paper job bags. He faced skepticism from staff who had seen previous failed attempts, so his biggest challenge was cultural—getting people on board. He started small with just one press, gradually expanding to others. As operators saw the benefits, they began requesting to go paperless themselves. Now, Geostick is fully paperless, with major improvements: operators can update job data directly in CERM, information is instantly visible across both of their sites, and moving jobs between machines is far easier. This has increased flexibility, reduced errors, and improved productivity—especially on the front end. Previously, CSRs manually checked every order on paper; now, many orders are automatically validated by CERM without CSR involvement, freeing time and reducing mistakes. Patrick also notes their use of Infigo for a web-to-print shop, which allows customers to reorder and modify label jobs online—a big success, particularly for repeat orders. He concludes that going paperless has made Geostick far more efficient, responsive, and accurate, and there’s no going back.

Pat McGrew at the INKISH NON-EVENT 2019 ...

INKISH hosted for the first time ever our NON-EVENT. The Non-event is celebrating the people that have been in front of the camera, or been supporting INKISH during the past years. This is a new recurring event, and the idea is to give space for the people we have featured to connect in a new way. We invited 150 people, and 32 decided to join us. Our guests came from Japan, Canada, USA, UK, Belgium, Sweden, and Denmark - and we are confident that next year, even more, will come. We asked most of our participants to talk LIVE during the dinner - and here is Pat McGrew from the US. Pat McGrew may not need much of an introduction, but here we go. She is Director of Keypoint Intelligence, she owns and operates three restaurants, she hosts several podcasts, and of course, she is the host on Print Sample TV. Her energy level is WAY higher than most we know. Great to see her in Copenhagen! Enjoy!

Pat McGrew · Fast Forward · drupa dog · ...

Bailey is the official dog of the McGrew Group. She is my co-host, Drupa dog. I have a wall full of them. And they're not all Disney. They're a little bit of everything. I grew up in the 60s with Saturday morning cartoons. I grew up with all the Disney pieces. My business partner at the time bought me the first cel. Which was of George Jetson and Astro. And then it got to be a thing. I always loved the roadrunner. I lived in New Mexico for five years. We moved into a house almost eight years ago that had a giant family room. And it also had sort of a more living room area. It has books, animation cels, the TV. But I also have a fireplace. But my space isn't really as big. I never wanted to be an independent consultant. I like the camaraderie of working for an organization. I can write technology. I understand where the vendors are. And whether they are hardware or software. And I understand the printing side of it. I've actually been able to craft a good assessment business. A good consulting business. A good writing business. It is harder and harder to be a one brand person. As an independent, I can work with everybody. I am sixty four. I've been walking around singing the Beatles song a lot. I think I've got a good 10 years at this. I think there is opportunity. We have three restaurants. We are remaining hopeful that by summer we'll be able to get them all open and full again. Everybody's had the last year to kind of sit in the lab and figure out what they needed to do. They've been busy. I mean, everyone that I work with has been busy. More interesting inkjet innovations. More interesting toner innovations. More interesting substrate innovations. And you put those all together. I'm excited.

At PRINTING United INKISH was broadcasting LIVE from Canon Solutions America October 23rd. It was fun, it was educating, it was also too much marketing - one of our viewers commented. However, talking to Michael Poulin, Director, Product Marketing, gave us an insight into how important partners are. You can think that the large vendors can manage everything themselves, but as you can hear, Canon Solutions America counts on the partners to deliver full solutions to their customers. Makes sense, I believe! Enjoy!

Part of Something Bigger · AlphaGraphics...

AlphaGraphics Sandy is one of the bigger franchises of AlphaGraphics - and in this film, we talk to the  Owner and president, Andy Selcho, about the advantages of being part of AlphaGraphics. Andy Selcho's father started AlphaGraphics Sandy, and though it wasn't the plan at first to have Andy Selcho take over, it became increasingly the plan - and today, Andy Selcho runs the Sandy division with many different technologies and services. In the film, we talk about the history. Still, also about current time and the future - we even get time to visit a customer, showing how many different technologies and applications AlphaGraphics Sandy can deliver. This is our first visit to a franchise company in the industry, so we are very excited about the story and the drive that Andy Selcho and his employees deliver. We contacted AlphaGraphics Sandy due to an unfortunate cancellation on one of our US trips. As we knew Director of Operations Paul Gardner from previous visits to Salt Lake City - a connection was established. We hope you like the story, and if you have great stories to share - feel free to reach out. We often have opportunities to do editorials like this - thank you for your support!
